Ancient Oni Conquest Road (Amanohashidate to Fukuchiyama)

Amanohashidate has been the secretary symbol and an important gateway to China and Korea.

Fukuchiyama has been also a big transportation hub in North Kansai and it connects to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Toyoka, and Mizuru.

And there is a mountain called “Oeyama” which has mysterious and beautiful nature between Amanohashidate and Fukuchiyama.

So the road between Amanohashidate and Fukuchiyama through Oeyama has been an important road since the ancient era. About 1500 years ago, the Kyoto government sent the army to expel “Oni”( like Demon in Japan) and kept the peace along this road.

Even now there are many shrines, and monuments around the road.

This road is also popular with Japanese cyclists for its low traffic and beautiful nature.

It’s very hilly, but if you use a high-torque E-Bike, you can reach Fukuchiyama in about 2 hours. I recommend eating a local “Oni-soba”(demon nudle) after across the mountain.

There is our co-working bicycle shop “Stoked Cycle” in front of Fukuchiyama Station, so please return our E-bike there.

The owner may serve a coffee.
